Donor Privacy Policy

The 100 Black Men of Metropolitan Houston, Inc. maintains the highest level of respect for the privacy of its donors. To ensure we maintain your privacy and gain your trust, we developed a privacy policy in addition to adhering to the Association of Fundraising Professional’s (AFP) AFP Donor Bill Of Rights.

What information we collect

We use information provided by contributors for the purposes of processing payments and communicating about the 100 Black Men of Metropolitan Houston, Inc. activities, as well as conducting the fundraising and other operations of the 100 BLACK MEN OF METROPOLITAN HOUSTON. This information may include name, amount donated, address, telephone number, donor comments, e-mail address, and any other personal information provided to us (“Contributor Data”). For donations by check, Contributor Data also includes the data visible on the check. As part of providing the best online experience, we may store various data collected as part of standard website operations (including IP addresses and cookies). We may use this data for purposes described in this policy, including analytical needs to improve the website function and experience.

Payment Processors and Other Service Providers

Payment processors allow contributors to give electronically using a credit card, or other payment method. These processors collect certain information from donors and maintain strict privacy and security policies as part of their agreement with us to provide this service. Contributor Recognition

We occasionally recognize contributors and their participation in fundraising and other organizational events in annual reports and other promotional materials. Please let us know if you would prefer to remain anonymous.

Financial information

It is our organizational policy to limit access to financial contribution information to professional staff and volunteers who need to process that information for the purposes described in this policy. Personal and Corporate financial information is not sold to or traded with other parties.

We use partners to provide online payment processing services but do not maintain individual credit card or bank information. If you pay by credit card, we do not store your credit card information, bank account numbers, or other financial account data sent directly to those processing services.

Note: Donations by check are processed directly in our Houston office. Checks sent directly to our offices are kept secure in our financial department.

Security

For your protection, we are committed to upholding high levels of web and data security. Among other things, we apply a range of security practices to maintain secure web access to sensitive data and undertake efforts to address security vulnerabilities for various tools and databases. We regularly assess and update our systems to keep up to date with advanced practices.

We may disclose information when required by law; and when needed to protect our rights, privacy, safety, property, donors, or users.

Updates

We may change the Privacy Policy from time to time. Any and all changes will be reflected on this page. Substantive changes may also be announced in communications with our subscribers and community.

Data Retention

Our policy is to only retain donor-related information as needed to fulfill the purposes of the highest standards for fundraising and organizational effectiveness and for the minimum periods as required by law or regulations.

Rights

You have certain rights with respect to the information we collect about you. Upon request, we will tell you what information we hold about you and correct any incorrect information. We will also make reasonable efforts to delete your information if you ask us to do so, unless we are otherwise required to keep it.

Scope

This policy applies to all fundraising efforts generated form THE 100 BLACK MEN OF METROPOLITAN HOUSTON. THE 100 BLACK MEN OF METROPOLITAN HOUSTON employees, board members, and volunteers who participate in the fundraising, however, are expected to adhere to the general principles set out in this policy. This policy does not address data from sources other than donations, such as edits or content contributions to projects or features.
